A Connected POS System for Modern Hospitality

LuoPos is a connected Point of Sale ecosystem designed for modern hospitality businesses. From dine-in operations to mobile ordering and back-office management, LuoPos brings together all core restaurant workflows into a single, coherent experience — across desktop, tablet, mobile and and self-ordering kiosk.

Project Goal

This project focused on the UX/UI redesign of a Point of Sale (POS) system for restaurants, built as a multi-device, connected ecosystem. The goal was to modernize an existing POS ecosystem by improving usability, simplifying user flows, and increasing operational efficiency, while preserving the core features used daily by hospitality teams. The system supports restaurants as the primary use case, with retail management as a secondary application.

A Unified POS Experience LuoPos was designed to be a single, coherent Point of Sale system that supports the entire restaurant operation — from bookings, self-ordering kiosks to dine-in service, takeaway orders, inventory, and financial reporting — without adding friction for staff or managers. • Every interaction was designed around three principles: • Speed during service • Clarity for decision-makers • Consistency across devices LuoPos was designed as a multi-device system, adapting seamlessly to different roles and contexts.

Dine-In, Simplified Dine-in service is where pressure is highest. Orders change, tables move, and staff need to act fast without second-guessing the system. The POS was designed to mirror real service flow. Tables are visual, orders are clear, and actions are always reversible. Orders are instantly synchronized with the kitchen or bar, with an interface built around speed with clear, connected and easily updated statuses. • Clear table management and status visibility • Fast order taking with minimal taps • Real-time synchronization between floor, kitchen, and payments • Smooth handling of splits, transfers, and updates

Products & Menus, Fully in Control LuoPos includes a powerful yet accessible product editor: • Simple creation of items, modifiers, and options • Clear pricing and stock management • Designed for non-technical users, the editor reduces setup time while maintaining full flexibility The menu management system allows teams to create, update, and deploy menus in real time. Categories, products, and pricing can be adjusted without technical intervention, and changes propagate instantly across all devices. Multiple menus can coexist — lunch, dinner, events, or takeaway — without duplication or confusion.

Customer Menu App Menus are living tools. Prices change, dishes rotate, and offerings adapt to time of day. LuoPos offers: • Clean, readable menu layout • Intuitive navigation, item details and customization • Seamless transition from browsing to ordering • Customer-facing self-ordering kiosks integrated into the POS ecosystem The interface is intentionally minimal, keeping the focus on clarity, speed, and easyness of order. Each item supports variants, modifiers, and ingredient logic, allowing staff to capture accurate orders while opening the door to smart upselling. The interface guides choices without forcing them, keeping interactions fast and natural. Average order value increases — without pushing staff into uncomfortable sales behavior.

Bookings That Flow Naturally Into Service Reservations were designed as a natural extension of service, not a separate tool. Staff can see upcoming bookings, manage seating availability, and anticipate service peaks. Once guests arrive, reservations transition smoothly into active tables, reducing friction between front-of-house planning and real-world service. LuoPos offers: • Table reservation management • Time slot availability logic • Capacity and seating optimization • Booking status tracking (confirmed, arrived, no-show) • Integration with dine-in service flow The outcome: better table turnover, reduced no-shows, improved guest experience and table rotation.

Payments, Tips & Checkout — Designed to End on a High Note Checkout is the last interaction a guest has with the restaurant. It should feel effortless, transparent, and reassuring — never rushed or awkward. Checkout is designed to be fast, transparent, and flexible: • Multiple payment methods (card and contactless, Tap-to-pay, Table-side payments via tablet, QR code payments, shared and split bills across guests) • Clear attribution of tips and multiple distribution strategies • Reporting, payment summaries and billing history for accurate tracking and reconciliation It closes the service loop with confidence — leaving guests with a sense of ease, and teams with accurate data.

Discounts With Accountability Built In LuoPos allows flexible and easy discount creation while maintaining full traceability. Permissions, conditions, and audit trails ensure that every discount applied is intentional and accountable. This protects margins while empowering staff to act when needed. LuoPos features: • Percentage and fixed discounts, clear eligibility rules • Time-based, conditional and seasonal promotions • Staff-controlled permissions • Audit trail for applied discounts The outcome: promotional flexibility without loss of control or accountability.

Clear Reporting and Financial Confidence At the end of the day, clarity matters. Sales, taxes, and performance data are presented in a way that’s easy to understand and ready to share with accountants or stakeholders. Cash register workflows, opening and closing reports, and staff accountability are built directly into the system. Managers always know where the business stands — without digging through spreadsheets.
